Kelly Creek Video A Finalist!
The Oregon Education
Association sponsors a video contest each year, in which
an individual
educator is spotlighted by someone who has been affected
by that educator. Reevkah Christiansen chose Christa
Garman, the custodian at Kelly Creek Elementary, (and
a dedicated Green Schooler!) as her subject for the 3 minute
video,
and it is now a finalist. The public can view
the videos at the OEA website and then vote for their
favorite. Click

Check out
this cool recycling DVD! Titled "Saving Little Pieces
of Our Earth -- Your Curbside Recycling Journey," this
new 13-minute DVD explains what happens to recyclables once
they leave the curb and how they are processed into new items.
Several Oregon Green Schools Regional Coordinators were responsible

Kelly Creek
Elementary, the longest running certified Premier Oregon
Green School in
the state (first certified Premier in 1997), was recently
featured on ABC's "Extreme Makeover -- Home Edition."
The
school was awarded a $250,000 grant from the Ford Foundations
to undergo an extended green makeover which included
resurfacing the playground with tiles made from recycled
tires. Take a look at http://www.fordvehicles.com/

The video is titled “Ford
